Ettina Bhuja Trek
The Ettina Bhuja Trek is one of Karnataka’s most scenic and offbeat trekking experiences, nestled in the serene Western Ghats near Mudigere in the Chikkamagaluru district. Known for its distinctive peak that resembles an ox’s shoulder—hence the name Ettina Bhuja—this trek offers a perfect blend of nature, adventure, and tranquility.
Standing at approximately 1,329 meters (4,364 feet), the Ettina Bhuja peak provides panoramic views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and cloud-kissed landscapes. For anyone seeking an easy to moderate trekking route in Karnataka, this trail is ideal, especially for weekend getaways from Bangalore, Mangalore, or Chikmagalur.
The Ettina Bhuja Trek route begins from the historic Sri Nanya Bhairaveshwara Temple in Byrapura village, leading you through coffee plantations, dense forests, grassy clearings, and rugged terrain. The 5-kilometer trail is accessible to beginners and moderately challenging toward the summit, making it a great introductory trek for all age groups.
What makes the Ettina Bhuja Trek in Chikmagalur truly special is its rich biodiversity. The forest trail is home to exotic birds, butterflies, and occasional wildlife, offering nature enthusiasts an immersive experience. Photographers and hikers alike will find the journey rewarding, especially during the post-monsoon season from October to February, when the views are clearest and the weather most pleasant.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or someone new to trekking, the Ettina Bhuja trekking experience promises unmatched peace, spiritual vibes, and stunning natural beauty. This Western Ghats trek is perfect for those looking to escape the city and reconnect with nature.
